Today Facebook unveiled its new chat service and as you may suspect it is pretty simple to load it in your Firefox sidebar to have it always on hand.
- In the Bookmarks menu, select Organize Bookmarks…
- Click on the New Bookmark…

A common complaint about Firefox 3’s location bar is that the autocomplete menu is too long because of the big font sizes, that the page title grabs too much attention compared to the address or that the address is too difficult to read.

While the new location bar is currently voted the favorite Firefox 3 feature with about 37% of 1,695 votes cast so far, it seems from comments to my recent Firefox 3 Beta 3 review, that a significant number of users are less than happy with it.

Here’s another way to download a file.
- If you don’t have the download button in your toolbar, in the View menu, select Toolbars/Customize…. Then drag the Downloads button to the toolbar.
- To download a file, just drag the link and drop it over the downloads button.

Firefox 2 introduced a new feature called session restore that allows it to automatically restore tabs and windows you had opened when you start Firefox after a crash or any kind of abnormal exit.
To get the same session restore with normal exits you have to select Show my tabs and windows from last time for When Firefox starts in the Main page of the Options window (Tools menu, Options). Read the rest of this entry »

Not all Firefox themes and extensions available on the web are properly served by the server so they are easy to add. Sometimes they are offered as regular .XPI (extensions) or .JAR (themes) files.
To install these, you need to either drag the file to the Add-ons Manager (Tools menu, Add-ons) or select File/Open File… and browse for the file.

When you open a new tab (File/New tab, or Ctrl + T) you get a blank tab.

While working on the Safari vs. Firefox story, I found an option in Safari to set the minimum font size for web pages. I checked Firefox’s option to see if this was possible and fortunately I found that yes. It is very simple to set and I think it is a great accessibility option for people with vision problems.
- Open the Options window. In the Tools menu, select Options…
- Select the Content tab.
- In the Fonts & Colors section press the Advanced… button.
- Select an adequate value in the Minimum font size menu
