Students Signature Competition looking for your persona

Since its official launch earlier this year, GetPersonas.com has attracted lots of attention and now features about 27,000 personas or lightweight themes you can install using the Personas Firefox extension, and it is ready to become one of the highlights of Firefox 3.6 when it is released later this year.

To make it an even greater success, Mozilla Labs is organizing a design contest aimed towards design school students. If you are one, you just need to create one (a couple of images) and submit it through the contest entry page by October 18th.

Mozilla Labs announces the Jetpack Lift Off contest

Jetpack logoMozilla Labs has announced a new development contest, this time focused on Jetpack, the cool new Firefox extension that adds a whole new API and framework for developers to add new features to Firefox, but unlike extensions, it doesn’t require a Firefox restart to apply them.

The contest runs until October 15, so you have time to download Jetpack, learn the apparently easy API, think about something great, and win an ASUS Eee PC 1000HE Black netbook. The runner up gets a prize package comprising of stickers and t-shirt.

Firefox 3.5 will be fast. Twice as fast as Firefox 3 to be precise. The question is, are you in the same league? Not rendering pages or running web applications (now, that would be seriously cool), but in any other skill. That’s what Fastest Firefox is all about.

The latest Mozilla marketing project is asking you to submit a video of yourself performing some task really really fast.

Winners of Impact Mozilla announced

The winners of Impact Mozilla, a Mozilla marketing contest that called enthusiast users to submit their ideas to improve Firefox retention rate, have been announced.

Phani Kumar Vadrevu and Uttam Byragoni of India, are the winners with their “Fox for All” proposal that aims to make add-ons more visible and relevant for Firefox users by encouraging the development of extensions for large demographics, and suggesting them to new users via an Add-on Suggest feature.

As winners, Phani and Uttam will have the opportunity to lead this project, and take home a $3,000 prize for their efforts.

Vote in Impact Mozilla final round

Impact Mozilla, the Mozilla Marketing contest that aims to gather ideas on how to improve Firefox retention rate (number of downloads that get installed, ran, and kept running after thirty days) has entered its final stage with a call to the public to vote for his favorite candidate.

In the first round, participants submitted their idea as a brief summary of what it was about. A few days ago, ten finalists, selected by Mozilla a month ago, submitted the expanded version with details on business benefit, feasibility, and measurability.

Impact Mozilla finalists announced

Out of more than 300 entries for Impact Mozilla, a contest where participants propose creative ways to improve Firefox retention rate (the number of users who keep using it after 30 days of the first run), Mozilla Marketing has chosen and announced the 10 finalists (individuals or teams).

They are: Jeremy Glassenberg, Bruno Fleurquin, Luke Baxter, Alex Polvi, Phani Kumar V and Uttam B, Andrew Stein; Roberto Michelassi, Elena Gorelik, Mischa Lumiere, Eileen Buenviaje, and Jason Williams (student team from The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business); Mohsin Afzal, Naveed Alam, Deval Delivala, and Feng Yuan Xu (student team from Haas School of Business); Pejman Pour-Moezzi, Ornwassa Siamseranee, Harvey Villarica, and Jacqueline Yuen (student team from Haas School of Business), and yours truly.

Firefox Screencast Contest

Firefox Screencast LogoMozilla Support has announced the Firefox Screencast Contest, a competition where Firefox users and fans are invited to submit a screencast for one or more of the top 100 Firefox Support Knowledge Base articles.

The contest rules note that screencasts must be done with Firefox 3 on any of the supported platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux), in English only at this time.
