Released: Fennec Beta 2 for Nokia, Alpha 2 for Windows Mobile

By Percy Cabello

Mozilla has released new development releases for two of its supported platforms: Beta 2 for Nokia Internet Tablets (powered by Maemo), and Alpha 2 for Windows Mobile.

As noted in Stuart Parmenter’s blos post, these new releases feature a new theme that improves usability, better performance and reliability, and work has started to make web forms easier to use.

While both, Windows Mobile and Maemo versions are based on the same code base, the different version numbers reflect the different levels of maturity in usability.

Get Fennec for Maemo, or Fennec for Windows Mobile.

Fennec for Symbian S60v3, or any Symbian, isn’t going to happen, is it? It’s a shame you’re neglecting almost HALF the smartphones in the world and only caring for the Maemo (who, what, will that N900 EVER be released??) and Win Mobile (Who? Are they still around? “Press Start to turn off your phone.” WTF) crowds.

Well done, your marketshare will be ZERO in this way.

Please, do not forget to aim a version at the proprietary OS’s of LG and Samsung, oh no, you cannot F*cking install anything on those platforms.

Bottomline is that, Or you cross compile your browser for multiple platforms (Even crappy old Nokia’s and the IPony), Or please devote your time to something else.
