Wow, it's nicer than the previous IE7. I used this with a crap PC (Using Celeron D 2.13 GHZ), and it's just like running in HT, good to know the changes. Still looking forward for more beta releases!

Actually they're missing the key part of offline Web apps support, which is support for offline caching of server resources (HTML, images, JS etc). The DOM storage support is only useful for storing the user's data.

@David, I stand corrected. It seems they are also implementing DOM Storage which together with online/offline events effectively support offline web apps. Post updated.

David, thanks for the tip. roc mentions online/offline events support which is just part of full offline web apps. Anyway, I still can't find the whitepaper where this is mentioned.

Looks like they did implement offline web applications support according to the HTML5 spec. See ROC's post:

A safer way to test IE8, without having to upgrade, is by using the provided Virtual PC image: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=70868

same here with xp sp2

but check this:

while installing, it create a temporal folder in the root of your drive, keep the installer open untill the last step, then go to the temp folder (wish name is a random string of numbers and letters) inside that folder you would be able to use it, if you close the installer the folder desappers
