Thunderbird 2.0.0.9 update available now
Published: November 15th, 2007
Mozilla has released an update for Thunderbird 2.0.0.6. Thunderbird 2.0.0.9 intentionally skips a few version numbers to sync with current Firefox 2.0.0.9. It fixes a couple of moderate security vulnerabilities and about 40 stability and performance bugs, so as usual, users are strongly advised to update to the latest version.
To update, select Check for Updates… in the Help menu and follow on-screen instructions.

I’m having some serious problems with Thunderbird 2.0.0.9
It won’t install. Says there’s some .dll missing for the program to install itself.
Uninstalling version .0.0.6 doesn’t change matters, the latest version still won’t work, and reinstalling version 6 also won’t work after.
You have to go back in time with Windows.
Suggestions?

i’ve got a problem with thunderbird v. 2.0.0.9 - it continually tries to update to v.2.0.0.6 but the updates fail to install, causing the program crash.
the only solution is uninstalling thunderbird to reinstall it - which doesn’t work either as some dlls refuse to be deleted automatically so i can only uninstall manually.
does anyone know a solution for this problem?

Pieter, i’m having the same problem. I uninstalled tb completely from my machine, rebooted, downloaded and reinstalled, and it worked for a day, until it asked to download the update again. Now it’s trying to update and is having the same problem has before.
But, I can’t complain much because Thunderbird is free and amazing, so many thanks to whoever it applies to.

Im having a similar problem. It keeps on downloading the update, but fails to complete, and refers to me having to close any open applications, but the thing is, I dont have anything open. I have even switched off my firewall, removed any themes I had installed in thunderbird, and the extensions, but all to no avail. I know we cant really complain, as its free, and it is great, and has never let me down up until now. I have permissions, and everything is how is should, but this is certainly a bug.

Same for me, but I found what somebody else said:
“I had the same problem (programs still open) I ran a process monitor and found that:
SKDAEMEON.EXE was holding mapiproxy.dll open. closed that, and the update installed no problem”
Unfortunately I didn’t have that .exe running but I copied the mapiproxy.dll file to someplace else and now at least my old thunderbird is running again!
