Meebo for Firefox

By Percy Cabello

You know meebo, right? If you don’t you’ve been missing a lot of the Web 2.0 buzz actually is.

Meebo allows you to connect to Yahoo!, Google Talk, MSN, AIM, Jabber and ICQ instant messaging networks at the same time through an Ajax-intensive interface that effectively mimics a desktop IM application.

meeboThe meebo extension, developed by meebo, adds a sidebar where all your contacts are displayed. You can double click a contact to send him a message or drag a link to one of them to send it right away.

A status bar icon notifies when you get a message or request, or a contact goes online or offline even if you have hidden the meebo sidebar. Preferences allows to enable or disable the alerts and set meebo to autoconnect on Firefox startup.

Meebo requires the meebo web page to be opened in a tab at all times to stay connected which just sounds weird to me. I hope a future version will allow the sidebar to take care of keeping the session on.

Get meebo at Mozilla Add-ons.
