Tested it on a Vista pro SP1 + Firefox 3.0.7 + java 1.6.0-12.
I first copied all C:\Programmes\Java\jre6\bin\* to C:\Programmes\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\ --> OK

While firefox was launched with java enabled, I deleted all unused files of C:\Programmes\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\*
and tested again : OK

So I only need :
C:\Programmes\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\
npdeploytk.dll
npjpi160_12.dll
npnul32.dll
npoji610.dll

Thank's a lot Steve !

Hello,
Thank you for the advice. By accident I found out that the only file that one needs to copy from the bin directory is:

npjpi160_12.dll

I found it by trying to delete the files with firefox still running.

A brute force method to fix is to manually copy all of the files from the Java install directory under bin to your Firefox plugins directory. It worked for me. I wish I knew exactly what files get installed when JRE runs but this is the only thing that fixed it. It's a problem with the JRE not working properly (in my case). Works now though.

I am running VHP and firefox 2.0.0.12 and still can't get java to work. The fix posted by CJ on January 30 should be in no way nessesary. I wonder if it's more a Mozilla or Microsoft problem.

I have Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Vista, and I also had this problem (try to load a page with a Java applet, and Firefox freezes). This work-around seemed to fix things.

My problem with Firefox 2.0.0.9 Vista is every time I go to print I get the following message:

Firefox has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. I can print out of Internet Explorer but I prefer Firefox. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it to no avail.

Perhaps the problem I am seeing is not the same as the one being discussed here. WinXPPro, FF2.0.0.9, Java Plug-in 1.6.0_03.

I can duplicate the problem by visiting http://www.hotellaplaya.com/ and clicking on “What’s New.” FF reports (status bar) that it is loading data, but it is not, nor will it load any other site. It will appear to close, but leaves a >50MB process running. Is that the same bug discussed in this thread?

The fix suggested doesn't appear to be working for me.

Vista Ultimate, Firefox 2.0.0.8

Everything is fine with the much hated IE7. Any other suggestions?

"Run as administrator" didn't help for me either. I am already in the Administrator group on my WinXP installation.

I can duplicate the problem by visiting http://www.hotellaplaya.com/ and clicking on "What's New" -- is that the same bug discussed in this thread?

Also can't get Java plug in to work with new release Firefox. I'm on Vista and the 'Run as Administrator' idea doesn't work either. Hope this is fixed in 2.0.0.9 and hope it's out soon. Having to go back to Internet Explorer. Oh no!! Sorry!
