XiTi Monitor has released its latest report (FR) on web browsers utilization in Europe and the rest of the world according to a survey during the first week of July.
All European countries saw an increase in Firefox participation with Hungary showing the most dramatic increase from 27.2%, in the latest March 2007 survey, to 39.7%. Overall, Europe grew from 24.1% to 27.8%.
I’ve been tracking XiTi results for a long while now and the chart below shows the market share evolution for the top 8 European countries.

At the global level, all continents show a notable increase with South America taking the largest growth to reach 15.5% from 11.9% in the latest report. Oceania keeps the lead at 28.9%.

A recent report by W3Counters showed some similar results at the global level.
Nice to see that the global increase is picking up a bit again since the launch of IE7. Interesting to see Australia and co taking the lead.
…but a shame that asia, where all the people live, is at the bottom…
It’s great to see that Firefox usage is increasing so much over the world. And I’m especially proud to be Slovenian where we lead the world in Firefox adoption. Just a few months and Firefox will be the most used browser in our country. Hope to see other countries around the follow us soon.

Unfortunately my lovely country, Africa, is beyond all the continents. But Firefox is already a well know alternative in My country, Mozambique.
What we need more is learn about the gains that someone has when using Firefox.

I think some of Firefox’s market increase is due to the fact it works with other OS’s Specifically Linux which is more popular in less afluent countries. It has begun to level off some, which indicate those who want to switch have. I am a Mac user and have found it less popular with Mac user’s. Although Camino has a very good browser for Mac.
I still have problems with some web sites with Safari or Camino.
Seems some web designers still code only to IE.
Do the results explain the mystery of why the poorest parts of the world – Latin America, Africa and Asia – are least likely to switch?
Awesome, I can’t wait for it to reach 50% global usage!
how do you pick these “top european countries”?
i was suprised that both england and sweden are not on the list, how come?
martin, these are the countries with the highest market share.
Too bad my country (The Netherlands) has the lowest Fx rate, 14,6%.
But then again, the dutch are very, very MS-centered. So no surprises here.

I was working on an ASP.Net 1.1 project and noticed how much faster FireFox ran than IE. Unfortunately, ASP.Net 1.1. I did some partial page caching and there is not screen flash with FireFox, but a good amount with IE7.
