A quick update to Firefox 2.0.x branch has been released by Mozilla to address a couple of security related bugs.

The first one, labeled as critical, was discovered last week and is related to the inclusion of spaces and quotes in web addresses that could be used to pass parameters to third party applications and allow remote code execution attacks. The second one could affect extensions that modify or create about:blank pages allowing an attacker to get more access to a user’s computer.

It’s strongly recommended that users update to this update either waiting for the update to be prompted within 48 hours or selecting Check for Updates… in Firefox’s Help menu.
