Mozilla’s Mike Shaver comments on Gears

Mike Shaver, Mozilla’s Director of ecosystem development, commented on a Computer World interview on Google’s recently released Gears, an extension that brings support for offline web applications to Firefox, one of the main improvement Firefox 3 will bring and currently in development.
This quote pretty much summarizes Mozilla’s view of Gears: “We [Google and Mozilla] are agreeing on some things and not on others. We want to figure out if there’s a way to combine their APIs with what we have, so we’re not bundling all those components.”
