Firefox 3 to remember text zoom for specific web sites
As previously announced, Firefox 3 will be able to remember selected preferences for specific web sites. Right now, the only implemented setting is text zoom: if you find a web page’s text too large or small for you, change it (Ctrl + MouseWheel, Ctrl+=, Ctr+-), and the next time you visit the web site Firefox will automatically resize the text for you.
But this is only the beginning. This new feature enables all sort of site specific preferences like enable/disable JavaScript, Java, images, set a specific dictionary language or character encoding, whether to accept cookies or not, a preferred context search engine, page print settings, etc. that could be added through extensions.

Joshua, there’s no release date set yet. Based on alpha and beta release schedule, the current product requirements document and past Firefox releases, my guess is sometime in December.

So, you mean within a year or so it’ll finally catch up to where Opera already was a year and a half ago? That’s superb!
Percy Cabello
Jason S., that’s more less correct, except that Firefox 3 will be out most likely late this year and I believe Opera has had site-specific preferences for longer than a year and a half.
When you realize that software features jump from one to another in both directions over time perhaps you will make more accurate comments. In the meantime if you need site specific preferences, try Opera.

If it is possible, I would like textsize to auto resize EVERY site and always remember it when I open it.

I believe it has already been said, but why can’t Firefox enlarge the entire page, not just the text?
I do still prefer Firefox on the whole but the zoom feature can actually make some text harder to read (placing it over borders, images etc.)

Sam, Firefox 3 will bring full page zoom: http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2007/07/firefox-gets-full-page-zoom/

I think there’s a problem with privacy. Even if I clear all personal data, the list of pages with custom zoom is written somewhere on my HD. How to clear it??????

view – zoom – reset should do it

Text is small on my high-res monitor so I bump up the text with ctrl++. Now with this 3.0 feature I have to increase the text size for every page instead of just once.
