I assume they did the percentage of visits to those type of sites per user.
so the average firefox user is more likely to visit these sites, and most polls show that IE is more widely used.
people who use IE are more likely to use it because they dont know of the alternative, this is likely due to their non-visitance (bah, grammar) of tech oriented sites.
people who use IE are often people who simply chose the simple built in option and use it for basic things like email etc.

Thank you for the sympathy. Unfortunately the software from the company that does the bulk of our printing is designed to be controlled via web interface and is extremely ActiveX heavy. Viewing often works ok in Firefox, but you can't do many things.

This is also the company that decided a year or two back that they didn't want to deal with fancy, complicated things like .csv files for importing data. Much better to drop support for that and force .xml only. Oh, and when someone wants to design a graphical layout/template the best choice is a Word .doc (and the printing software requires word be installed because it uses it to print).

You also have to remember that in the minds of most IE users, using a browser other than IE at all is considered "Tech-Savvy".

Follow-up: Wow, that's saddening. I guess people just take it for granted that all browsers are as bad as IE...
I feel sorry for the person who's still using Internet Exploder.

<i>Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that just means more people use Firefox.</i>

Currently Firefox stands at maybe 20% or so of the browser market and IE around 70%. In a couple European countries Firefox is now slightly more popular than IE, but it's still nowhere near the big Redmond behemoth on the worldwide scale.

Well, I'm correcting you. By far, more people use IE and plus the numbers are in percentages of users that visit these websites, not just the raw numbers.

Far more people use IE. What it means is the percentage of users of either browser who use those types of websites.
