Thunderbird 2.0 is out
Following last week’s release candidate, the final version of Thunderbird, Mozilla’s mail applications has been released for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux in more than 30 languages.
Among several new features in this release, a new way to organize mail by tagging messages as an alternative to old folder classification, is available.
Native support for .Mac and Gmail accounts have been added. Now when creating an account you can select Gmail type and just enter your username and password and you are ready to go.
Another new feature is the option to trace back the messages you have read in the current session with Back and Forward buttons. New mail alerts provide a summary of the subject, sender and a message preview, and you can click the alert to quickly open the message.
The default theme has been updated for better usability. Extensions are able to show and store new message columns, easier to localize and provide stronger security. The installer is now based in NSIS, just like Firefox, and better support for Windows Vista has been added as well.

The best thing is that you can create any number of cumstom tags, which is what makes TB 2 really really useful.
My email is now organized in five folders and a number of tags. I may move to a single folder in the future.
