Take back the tab bar space

HiudeTabBar optionsIf you are all for saving screen estate for actual web content in Firefox, you will be pleased to know Hide Tab Bar, a Firefox extension developed by Geva Zeichne, that adds a Tab Bar item to the View menu and lets users define a configurable keyword combination to hide and show the tab bar.

You can also set it to hide automatically after a certain delay and show it again when you move the mouse around the toolbar end.

A disadvantage of it is that it will take an extra key stroke to change to another tab (unless you know its Ctrl + # shortcut) and you will most likely have to move horizontally in the tab bar once it appears to reach the tab you want. So I’ll leave this one for true screen saving maniacs.
