Google Talk sidebarI’ve been looking for a way to do exactly this. Finally, the guys at Digital Inspirations have found a way to have the web version of Google Talk as a Firefox sidebar.

  1. Open the Bookmarks Manager. In the Bookmarks menu, select Organize Bookmarks…
  2. In the File menu select New Bookmark…
  3. Enter Google Talk for Name
  4. Enter http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/client for Location.
  5. Now just open the created bookmark.

I want to add that you can also right click on the Bookmarks toolbar and follow the same steps, but be sure that you check “Load this bookmark in the sidebar”.

I didn’t believe this until I tried it, very cool tip.
    Thanks.
