Mozilla to open corporate office in China

By Percy Cabello

John Lilly, Mozilla Corporation's COOReuters is reporting today that Mozilla will open a new corporare entity in China to pursuit the Mozilla project’s goal of providing choice and keeping innovation as a driver for Internet technologies.

“It’s not our goal to make sure that everyone in the world is using Firefox. My main goal is that people know there’s a choice — that going on the Internet is not just clicking the blue ‘E’,” said John Lilly, Mozilla Corporation’s Chief Operations Officer.

As some may remember, Mozilla opened a non-profit branch in China back in 2005 but this new entity, like the US Mozilla Corporation, will support the Mozilla Foundation activities, including fund raising. An initial target of 9% market share within the first two years have been set as well.
