Money at the Mozilla Foundation
Mitchell Baker, Mozilla Foundation’s president comments in her latest blog post about the Foundation financial results during the past years. A strong increase in revenue (from $2.4 million in 2003 to $52 million in 2005) reflects the notable growth of Firefox’s user base, as the largest part of the MoFo’s revenue comes from contracts it has with web search providers, followed by direct public support.
Numbers come from the latest Mozilla Foundation’s Form 990 filing. For the curious, the report also informs on 2005 wages from Mozilla Foundation employees. According to the report Brian Eich, Chief Information Officer, Mitchell Baker, President and Chris Beard, are the best paid ranging from $90 – $120K a year.
Among employees, Scott McGregor, Johnny Stenback and David Bienvenue, lead the compensation rank with wages ranging from $75 – $90K a year.
Additional details for the Mozilla Corporation show basically the same numbers and people, so it seems their actual compensation is in the range of $150 – $250K a year, but I am no taxes expert so I may be reading incorrectly.
You can give these public papers on your own at mozilla.org.
