Why? That’s just stupid. This feature is great, but of no use if I don’t get the dialog with my current setup.

If you have “Show my windows and tabs from last time” selected you’re explicitly telling it NOT to ask you.

I’m using the Qute theme on Trunk. I was surprised to see it causing about:sessionrestore to not display properly. You cannot see the inner window listing the windows and tabs that were open when the crash occurred. Also the buttons’ sizes are affected.

Isn’t such an approach–a theme affecting what I would think is a non-chrome browser feature–not a good way to go, not to mention how it may adversely affect theme writers?

Also, if what Nils is saying is true, what does that mean for the many users like me who have their browser set to restore windows and tabs from my previous session and not to show my home page or a blank tab?

Should a new bug be filed to revise this so that third party themes won’t have to also account for about:sessionrestore?

Nice improvement, kinda makes things easier.

But still you get the old ‘unexpected shut-down prompt’ (Firefox still can tell the last shut-down was due to a crash not a normal user shut down). So why not have this option for the “Show my windows and tabs from last time”?

Best way to do it in all islands is renting your own car, about $90/day including insurance and fees. 2h. taxi tours are about $25/person if arranged in the island so you do the math. You may want to get to the island quick though as, incredibly, they ran out of cars pretty quick. I wasn’t able to get one in Curaçao. Plan ahead. The islands are very small and you can normally go from one extreme to the other in some 20 – 30 minutes max. I would say most beaches you will see in a map are worth it. Magens at St. Thomas is a very big pool, like the one next to the SeaAquarium in Curaçao. Feel free to email me (percy@ this domain).

I’m not as tech savvy as this group. However, I have enjoyed the session restore feature tremendously as I share a laptop with my daughter. Most times the sessions restore perfection. Other times (maybe 1 in 10) when I lot on after selecting save session before logging off, the session doesn’t restore. This is not following a crash….just regular log off/log on.

I have become used to the restore session feature, after a crash or restart. Every once in a while it does not offer to restore the previous session when I expect it do, and it launches as a new session instead. If this happens, can I request it to restore the previous session … on demand?

I understand that I can set it to always ask me if I want to restore my previous session, but I am not sure I want it do offer to do that. I also understand those users who (for personal security reasons) want to totally disable this function.

For similar reasons, I do not want new sessions to always offer to restore previous sessions.

My question is, if the browser crashed and/or the OS was rebooted (and, therefore, I am expecting FF to offer to restore the previous session), but FF does ***NOT*** offer to restore my previous session … does this mean that the previous session data is lost?

It would be nice if, when FF is launched as a new session, there is an option to request restoration of the last session. Of course, this would only work if the user has not specifically disabled session restore. This would help on those odd occasions that FF does not automatically offer to restore the previous session.
