Spread Firefox v2

Mozilla’s Asa Dotzler has announced that the new version of Spread Firefox, the base of several Firefox marketing projects, is now open for public view in beta mode.

The new SFX site is still based on Drupal, a popular open source content management system but unlike the current version it will develop around existing and new marketing projects SFX members will create.

Which is a great idea. In its current comments-centric incarnation, there is too much “Firefox is good” kind of  posts at the same level as project proposal posts making it difficult to focus on this aspect, which is of course the reason for SFX to be.

The new version features a Tell a Friend page to recommend Firefox to friends and relative. However the default message (“I found this great web site, which you should really check out!”) should be about Firefox and not SFX or mozilla.com in my opinion.

There is also Quick Wins, a nice list of easy ideas to spread Firefox as part of your daily activities. Other popular section like Firefox buttons, top referrers and highlighted projects complete the front page.

Visit Spread Firefox 2 Beta and drop your comments in the SFX Beta 2 feeback project.
