You may have noticed a couple of changes to Mozilla Links:
The logo has changed. I kept the old donut shape but dropped Mozilla products’ colors for simple Mozilla black and red. Tying the logo color to Mozilla products resulted in a too colorful icon. The favicon is now much sharper and truly transparent thanks to The Gimp. I’ve found it to be very unintuitive but once you manage to understand its weird personality you may get to love it.
A search plugin is now available. You will notice the search engine button lights blue at Mozilla Links now. Click on it and select Add “Mozilla Links” to add it as a search plugin to make it easier to find any past content. This Mozilla Developer Center’s guide is all I needed. Neat!
Expect some other minor improvements and please feel free at any time to drop your comments and suggestions. I really appreciate them. Thanks for reading.
My favourite mozilla news site :)
I’d never noticed the search engine button turn blue before. If you hadn’t mentioned it, I might never have noticed because the colouring is so subtle.
Note to Firefox developers – some of us have poor colour vision and need more obvious colour changes!
“You will notice the search engine button lights blue”. Hmmm. Will I?
Ryan has a good point about more obvious colour changes. Better still, add another kind of visual clue. The advice given in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (“Do not rely on colour alone”) is equally useful for software.
